From spring into late summer the mahi push through in waves, and Islamorada sits right on the highway. We run the blue water looking for the signs the captains have read their whole lives: working birds, floating weed lines, color changes, and debris holding schools underneath.
When a school lights up behind the boat it is controlled chaos in the best way, with multiple rods bent and fish greyhounding across the surface. It is the ideal trip for groups and families who want steady action, and the crew cleans and bags your fillets at the dock.
